Join me each month for a series of workshops that will not only help you expand your own garden paradise, but will also help you learn more about the natural plant life of Fire Island.
With my background in horticulture, working on Fire island for over 20 years I have specialized in coastal plants. I want to educate what I have learned from my failures and successes having taken care of so many bay and seaside landscapes.
I’ll be offering several workshops at Coastal Roots and forest walks to broaden the way in which we see and cultivate our Fire Island. Any level of gardener or nature lover is welcome to join in.

SUMMER 2021 SCHEDULE
GARDEN CLEANUP & MAINTENANCE 101- 29th (2-4pm)
$25 Per Person
Learn about your landscape and garden. This workshop will show you how to prune trees, shrubs, grasses, and perennials. Learn how to work with sandy soil and enhance it for planting garden beds. Choosing the right plant by knowing your permaculture from wet, dry, shade to sun we can identify what kind of garden you can grow and be successful. Bring photos to help identify your pre exhibiting vegetation.
CONTAINER PLANTING- June 5th (2-4pm)
$25 Per Person
Anything can be a container from a hollowed log to a classic or modern pot.
Let's create a potscape together using annuals and perennials and or vegetables and herbs to create your paradise on the patio.
GARDEN DESIGN 101- June 12th
$25 Per Person
Layout, look, and mood! Page through my library of delicious garden delights.
Let's create. Take the time and exercise some forethought in your overall garden scheme. Bring along your survey and let's trace and draw your dream projects. You don't have to be an artist or master gardener to benefit from this workshop.
